Sculpture and Jewelry Artist
Josephine Schauls is an artist from Des Moines Iowa currently attending UNI as a double major in Art Education and Fine Arts in sculpture. Josie is the founder of The Steel Sorceress, a chainmail jewelry business where accessories are created with steel rings and hardware for long term wear. The sculptural work she create’s uses steel and welding techniques to express ideas of protection in different forms of objects such as chains or chainmail. Josie takes these objects as a starting point to her work and uses them to question our social and political climate. With her work, whether it is jewelry, or large scale sculptures, Josie strives to create a feeling of empowerment and inspiration.
